Project to improve literacy and numeracy among marginalized communities children

Different studies done in the past show that the level of literacy and numeracy is still very low among marginalized communities when compared to other communities in Tanzania. In some communities like Hadza, more than 60% of the population is illiterate.

Savannah Vision Tanzania is planning to execute a project to help increase literacy and numeracy among kids of marginalized groups in the Arusha and Manyara regions. We believe that when children have high competency in literacy and numeracy skills, they can become more successful in life, be creative, and innovative and contribute fully to all aspects of national development. To make this happen we plan to:
1. Promote open-source learning apps for kids in schools
2. Reaching parents and kids at home to download and use free source apps for children's literacy and numeracy learning (we intend to reach 200 kids per year)
3. Improve literacy and numeracy outcomes through targeted studies.
4. Distribute smartphones for literacy and numeracy learning as we get from donors to kids of marginalized families who cannot afford one.
5. Do monitoring and evaluation of the project to obtain data that will enable us to continuously improve our service to communities.
